Mountain Bikes
Mountain bikes have been documented as far back as its name first being printed in the mid 1960s. This was called a “Mountain Bicycle” and it was a heavy modified cruiser made for rougher terrain than the average street bicycle during that time. It was in the 1970s that the mountain bike started becoming a more popular activity that many people were doing a lot in California. With a growing number of people becoming interested in more extreme cycling, the advancement in this bicycles design started.
Nowadays, you can find a mountain bike for coasting and find bicycles that can be geared for concurring many steep hills and terrain. Now, you can more commonly find mountain bikes that are built like a dirt bike, minus the engine. Shocks on these bikes are often used to make the ride over long distances or rough terrain a little less wearing on your body. There are different types of sports that people use bikes for while they are in competition. You now see events like bike tricks; bike races for speed, bike races for extreme terrain and many other categories than there were for the beginning age of this type of bike.
